LAS VEGAS –The Golden Nugget Las Vegas was recognized for the eighth consecutive year as the Best Downtown Hotel at the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s 27th Annual Best of Las Vegas Awards, March 22.
The hotel was chosen by readers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal through print and online readers’ polls for 2008, with nearly 8,000 people worldwide participating in the survey.
“Sharks on Fremont Street?” The Review-Journal’s editorial read in its award issue. “At least some of them have a good home at the Golden Nugget. Usually the blowout favorite for this category — second-place Four Queens wasn't even near to close — the Golden Nugget backs up its reputation as the crown jewel of Downtown with reinvestment, including a new buffet, Lillie's Noodle House and, yes, that shark tank, rising out of the pool.”
“On behalf of the Golden Nugget and Landry’s Restaurants,” said Justin McVay, Public Relations Manager for the property, while accepting the hotel's award, “I would like to thank Las Vegas and the readers of the Review-Journal for selecting the Golden Nugget as your Best Downtown Hotel.”
Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, longtime advocate for revitalizing Downtown, recognized the Golden Nugget as the Best Downtown Hotel during the awards show held inside the New York-New York Hotel & Casino’s Zumanity Theatre, along with co-announcers Darren Peck, Ted Pretty and Heidi Hayes from Las Vegas’ Fox 5 Television.
“The Golden Nugget has made some great renovations since 2005,” McVay concluded. “And if you haven’t been downtown in a while, we’d like to invite you to come back and check us out.”
